• Created a flower bed … needs a different watering schedule than the grass
• Removed a garden area … are the proper heads being used
• Poorly planned system … water is not reaching all areas of the property
• Plants have matured, soil has aged … water needs have changed
• Sunny vs shady areas … may need different nozzles or potentially separate zones

There are many things to take into consideration when looking at the effectiveness of watering.

• If an obstacle has been created … sprinkler head position may need to change
• If an area has different watering requirement … an additional zone may be required
• If a system was poorly planned it may take some significant modifications with additional heads or even additional zones
• When plants have matured the watering schedules may need to be adjusted to provide more or less water
• Aging soil … even with a perfect irrigation system, if the soil does not have the necessary nutrients it will require more & more water to keep it looking good. Aerating and adding nutrients to the soil will make the lawn healthier and decrease the amount of water necessary to keep you looking good.
